Freelance Incubator
Building Foundations for a Sustainable Career as a Creative
June 13 and 14, 2026 · Santa Fe, NM
Free for New Mexico residents
The craft is one thing. The career is another.
New Mexico's post-production community is growing. But the support that sustains a creative career, the kind that goes beyond the work itself, is harder to come by. Most editors, assistant editors, and colorists learn their craft on the job. The business side of freelancing (setting rates, writing contracts, managing taxes, building a portfolio, planning for long-term growth) usually gets figured out the hard way.
The Freelance Incubator is built to change that.
Two days. Lasting infrastructure.
Over two days in Santa Fe, participants work through the fundamentals of running a freelance post-production career: positioning, branding, client relationships, business setup, accounting, taxes, workflow, and long-term strategy. The format blends instructor-led sessions, hands-on exercises, and guest speakers from accounting and the New Mexico film office.
Every participant leaves with:
A personal positioning statement
Outreach email templates
A basic rate framework
A financial tracking starter plan
A 90-day freelance action plan
A complete course workbook
