About Dan Shoenbrun
Dan Schoenbrun is the co-creator of The Eyeslicer, a DIY variety series building a home for proudly radical American shortform filmmaking. The Eyeslicer has been called "one of the craziest TV shows you'll ever see" (Indiewire) and "an insane variety show puree" (Entertainment Weekly). The show's ten-hour, ten-episode first season featured work from over 55 visionary filmmakers, including David Lowery (A Ghost Story), Ari Aster (Hereditary), Amy Seimetz (Starz's The Girlfriend Experience), Shaka King (Newlyweeds), Augustine Frizzell (Never Goin' Back), Frances Bodomo (HBO's Random Acts of Flyness), and many, many more. The show premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival as the only independent project in the festival's television section. It had its international premiere at an immersive installation at the 2018 International Film Festival Rotterdam, and it toured the country with a live "smell-o-vision" roadshow that traveled to 20+ cities. The Eyeslicer's second season, executive produced by Meow Wolf, is currently in production.
Previously, Dan created the collaborative feature film collective:unconscious, in which five visionary filmmakers adapted each other's dreams for the screen. In 2016, collective:unconscious became the first multi-director anthology film to premiere in competition at SXSW. The film was released for free online in partnership with BitTorrent and has been watched over 300,000 times. Before creating collective:unconscious and The Eyeslicer, Dan worked as the Senior Film Outreach Lead at Kickstarter and the Associate Director of Programming at IFP. He was a regular columnist for FILMMAKER Magazine.
